Vintage Halloween Decorations
Create some vintage Halloween decorations for yourself and they will scare year after year because Halloween is about the same thing each year.
Going with the classic black cats, ghosts, witches, and skeletons is one way to decorate your house with vintage Halloween decorations.
Silhouettes
Cut out Halloween shapes, such as witches, cats, broomsticks, ghosts, and anything else that you think of from black construction paper.
Hang the silhouettes on your walls to decorate for a party; you can even hang them on the front of the house or in your windows.
Lighting
Something else that you can do on your own is to make your own vintage lighting around the house.
Place a pillar candle inside a wide-mouth mason jar, the quart size works best. The candle should be about 2 inches in diameter and around 4 inches tall. Secure the candle using some melted wax from another candle.
For the final touches, add about an inch of candy corn to the jar.
Now you have a vintage Halloween candle globe.
Outdoor Vintage Ghosts
One thing that you can do for outdoors is to make vintage Halloween ghosts. To do this you will need to get some cheesecloth and fabric stiffener. To begin you will want to place stakes in the ground where the ghosts will sit, 3 or 4-foot wooden stakes work the best. Place a foam ball on top of each stake, use different size balls for different looking ghosts.
You want to secure the foam ball to the stake by pushing it at least 2 inches onto the stake. Soak the cheesecloth in the fabric stiffener, once all of it has gotten wet take it out of the fabric stiffener and drape it over the foam ball. Arrange the cheesecloth until you are satisfied with how the ghost looks.
You can also add some wire to create arms for the ghost. With the wire, you want to wrap it around the stake just below the foam ball, twist the wire until you have the arms in the position you want and then drape the cheesecloth over the whole structure.
To make the ghost even more vintage looking add some vintage masks for their faces, instead of using a traditional ghost face.
Buy Vintage Halloween Decorations
The best place to go to get some vintage Halloween decorations is online; most retail stores will not sell any vintage Halloween decorations because most people are more concerned with the modern decorations. Going online to auction style websites like eBay, is your best chance because people love to sell their old stuff or stuff that they have found in Grandma’s Attic. Your other choice is to look around on the internet for shops that specialize in vintage Halloween decorations.
