The Simpsons Costumes
First I dyed white turtlenecks yellow for everyone in the family. Homer was easy enough. A little extra padding, white shirt, blue pants and a baldhead. Homer needed to apply tan around his mouth.
Bart was even easier with the t-shirt and shorts.
Lisa took a little more time. I found an orange dress at a second hand store and altered it to be sleeveless. For Lisa’s hair, I used some packing styrofoam and cut them into triangles. I then used yellow duct tape and a headband and taped all the pieces to the headband.
Looking for inspiration, I went to a craft store where the styrofoam balls caught my eye. I bought two different sizes; one for Marge and Lisa's necklaces and one for the Simpson's eyes.
Marge took the most work. Using blue foam sheets, I made her hair. When I had the base of the hair made, I glued cotton balls all over it. Then I spray-painted it blue. Once I had finished that I bought some green fabric and basically wrapped it around myself.
For the eyes. I bought old glasses frames at a second hand store and cut the styrofoam balls in half and glued them to the frames after I hallowed out a small eye hole. I also covered the glasses frames with yellow duct tape to blend in with the yellow make up we had on our faces.
Needless to say, we were a big hit at the party.
