Star Wars R2D2 Costume
Just take some plaster strips on an exercise ball add some silver and blue paint, add 1/2 a plastic Easter egg and a child's paper drinking cup and 3 days later you have the head of the R2D2 unit.
Then take some cardboard and bend and shape it into the legs. Two Capri Sun boxes for feet, a ton of paint and presto some just like that 2 more days later you've got legs.
Take a huge, heavy cardboard tube and cut it to size, then on a computer, design the body graphics in an illustration program and tile print the file. Cover the tube in white paper and carefully attach the printed body graphics into place. Screw the feet to some wood and then screw the wood to the body section, cover the wood with the legs and attach with hot glue.
Then for the final touch, load an iPod with R2D2 sounds and install the iPod and speakers into the body cavity and loop the R2D2 sounds. If you followed these steps, in about a week you should be done. To see how I made it and see it in action, watch the video.
