KISS Costumes

KISS costumes are always a huge group Halloween costume hit! Grab your buddies and and become The Demon (Gene Simmons), Starchild (Paul Stanley), Spaceman (Ace Frehley), and The Catman (Peter Criss). 

Practice your "performance" and on-stage antics to really please to crowd with these amazing costumes. Oh, and be sure to practice your camera face; you'll be taking pics all night long!

KISS Base Costume

All of KISS’ looks started with black, skin-tight suits. These are called unitards or catsuits and are mostly sold at places that sell dancewear. They make them with and without sleeves so choose which one best fits the look you’re going for. If you can’t find a unitard, get matching tight black pants and black top.

Once you get your base, you’ll need to cut the costume to match your KISS member. Put on your outfit on mark where you want to cut. Remember the old rule of measure twice, cut once.

Next figure out how you want to embellish your costume using silver fabric, chains, silver duct tape, clear rhinestones, sequins, feathers, metal studs, etc. What pattern will you use? Where will the items go? Don’t forget to plan for front, side, back, and boots.

Now that you have a plan, hit up your local fabric/craft store to find supplies. Don’t forget to also get any tools you might need to apply the embellishments. If you’re not sure how to apply something, ask for help.

KISS Boots

Now for the awesome boots! There are replica boots out there for sale for several hundred dollars and if you want them, go for it - they are at the bottom of the page.

If you want a DIY option, you’ll need to find black platform boots. Here are a few options for you.

If you don’t like these or you’re out shopping a lot of these boots come in women’s sizes. Normally the conversion is to add 2 sizes to your size to find the women’s size. However, since these are platform boots with heels, add 3 sizes. So if you normally wear a size 11, buy a women’s size 14. You can always add inserts if you need some extra padding.

Now that you have your boots, add the embellishment.

Another option is to use black soccer shin guards and embellish them.

KISS Makeup

To do the makeup, there are makeup kits available for each member of the band:

To DIY, you’ll need one or more of the following: white clown face paint, black face paint, black eyeliner, powder brush, baby powder, black lipstick, red lipstick, silver eyeliner, and/or silver eye shadow.

For all band members, cover your face in the white clown paint. Using a powder brush, lightly cover your face with baby powder - this will help the makeup stay. Line both eyes on top and bottom with black eyeliner. Now, using the eyeliner, draw the outline of the appropriate shape on your face. It may be easier for you if you draw it out on paper, cut it out and use it as a stencil. Fill in the outline with the black face paint or silver eye shadow.

Next, line your lips using a color matching the color you’re going to put on your lips - red for red, silver for silver, black for black. This is important since most lipsticks run and you don’t want it to look messy. Fill in the lip liner with the lipstick! Now you look like KISS!

KISS Hair

If you have black hair, great! Tease it and hairspray it to the hilt. If you don’t have the hair for this look, just get yourself a Black Rock Star Wig and style it up.

Finishing Touches

Look for a studded chokers, studded wristbands, fake (or real) tattoos, chunky silver jewelry, and studded belts to help complete your KISS costume. Also, if you have a guitar, strap it on with a black, studded strap.

Starchild Costume Boots  These KISS boots have a silver vinyl cuff with a silver strip going down the back of the leg to a silver heel piece. The sides of the boots have black vinyl covering with 5 star cut outs that reveal silver vinyl. The boots have a black lace that goes up the length of the boot and secures on silver hooks. The tongue, toe, heel, and platform of the shoes are also silver. The heel is fully wrapped in vinyl and the sole of the shoe is a textured silver as well.

Ace Frehley Authentic Rock the Nation Spaceman Adult KISS Costume This Spaceman costume from KISS' Rock the Nation Tour includes a black jumpsuit that zips in the front down to the waist and has three-quarter sleeves. At the bottom of the pant legs are elastic bands that slip around the feet.

Spaceman Costume Boots The accessory has a futuristic look. A silver, faux leather covers the exterior of the boots while a short zipper is located on the side. The shoes have a thick, solid heel with squishy, black circles rounding the footwear. A silver cuff fits over the rim of the boots and is attached by a patch of Velcro. In addition, an official KISS stamp is located on the sole of the shoe.

Peter Criss Authentic Rock the Nation Catman Adult KISS Costume This Spaceman costume from KISS' Rock the Nation Tour includes a black jumpsuit that zips in the front down to the waist and has three-quarter sleeves. At the bottom of the pant legs are elastic bands that slip around the feet. The collar and sleeves are lined in a shiny, silver foam trim.

Catman Costume Boots The entire boot is covered in black and silver metallic snake print material. The cuff is silver and comes to a point at the front of the boot. A silver snake stitched to the shaft slithers down the outside and inside of the leg. The back of the platform has an official KISS logo to prove your devotion to the band.
