Jigsaw from Saw Costume

Jigsaw from Saw Costume
We were going to paint the balls, but decided the paint wouldn't stick without finding better paint. We made the swirls on paper and filled in behind the paper with cotton balls. The plan to start off was to glue the balls to his cheeks with eyelash glue or spirit gum, it didn't work. There wasn't enough of a surface to glue to his face. I found a piece of elastic out of a tent pole and poked it through each side. The holes were small so the cheeks fit snug and stayed in the right place.
I then found the white shirt, black jacket and pants at the thrift store on sale for 5 for $1! We didn't realize until later that the jacket didn't have a pocket for the handkerchief nor did it have buttons. I sewed on the buttons and cut a slit for the handkerchief. We didn't have a bowtie or handkerchief so I cut up an old shirt and made the bowtie (stuffed with plastic bags) and glued a piece of the shirt onto cardboard for the handkerchief. I shoved it into the slit I cut into the jacket and it fit perfect.
Next was the $2 face paint and finally the squeaky old tricycle to tie it all together. We wanted to have the puppet laugh playing outloud, but unfortunately couldn't round up the speakers in time.
As I said it cost me $2.80 and about 3 hours in total to get it put all together. I set the white paint with powder so the black on the eyes and the red eyeballs (on his lids) ended up smearing, but we were still pleased with the outcome.
