Aquarium Man Costume
For Halloween I wanted to be the deep-sea diver aquarium man that releases bubble to aerate the water. When I was a kid I always wanted one of those plastic trinkets for my fish tank but never got to have one :( Oh well, I just took it one step further and made myself one.
The helmet is entirely paper-mache that I molded from a dodge ball. The knob is a faucet handle from my bathroom (no hot water for a while :P).
The treasure chest is made of foam and contains a bubble machine to get that aquarium feel.
The suit is a workout sauna suit that ended up working out well with the cold front that came through.
The boots are covered with paper-mache "weights" and the gloves are covered in rubber.
The whole project took about 2 heavy days of work, but most of that was just drying time. I sped that up using some halogen lamps and a hair-dryer. Despite what the critics tell you, spray paint can go a long way and was surprised how hard paper-mache can get!
The first costume I ran into was my friend you went as a hum-bolt squid that he made from a Snuggie. We decided that was a great time to have a fight in the front yard in view of the neighbors....of course I won.
